Reed to Present in Third Chancellor Finalist Forum

Daniel Reed, presidential professor in computational science at the University of Utah, will be the third of four chancellor finalists to participate in a public forum on campus. His forum is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the Faulkner Performing Arts Center and will also be live streamed and recorded for broad access to the campus community.

Each of the four candidates are visiting campus for two days of meetings with students, faculty, staff and university stakeholders.

Reed also previously served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of Utah. He helped launch the For Utah scholarship, which diversified the student body and broadened access for first-generation students, and spearheaded the 1U4U cross-campus research initiative.

Prior to his time at Utah, Reed was the university chair in computational science and bioinformatics; professor of computer science, electrical and computer engineering; and professor of medicine and vice president for research and economic development at the University of Iowa.

Reed is also the former corporate vice president for technology policy and extreme computing for Microsoft. He earned a bachelor’s in computer science at Missouri University of Science and Technology and a master’s and Ph.D. in computer science at Purdue University.

Registration is required for remote access to each forum (see links below). Links to recordings of the forums are being added below as soon as they become available. Links to surveys to provide feedback on the finalists will be posted for 72 hours following each public forum.
