Sandy Sehon, a project and program specialist in the Industrial Engineering Department, has been named Employee of the Year in the College of Engineering. The Employee of the Year is an award generated from the Employee of the Quarter award winners.

Sehon started with the Department of Industrial Engineering in 2009 as an administrative support specialist and was quickly recognized for her expertise with accounting. She was promoted in 2010 to fiscal support specialist, and her current title is project/program specialist.

In the nomination, Department Head Ed Pohl described Sehon as being "extremely knowledgeable, helpful and efficient." Pohl said, "I see firsthand how crucial Sandy is to the day-to-day operations of our department."

He continued, "Sandy single-handedly manages about 100 program-designated and gift work tags with approximately $8.1 million in expenses. She also oversees 84 grants with approximately $1.3 million in research expenditures. Each account, primary investigator, faculty member and funding source have their own unique requirements and deadlines, but Sandy manages it all with ease and accuracy."

Sehon holds a degree in human environmental sciences and a minor in business administration from the U of A. She was a member of the Razorback Marching Band, and in 2001 her family was selected as the annual Razorback Family of the Year. This award is sponsored by the Associated Student Government and Parent & Family Programs. The model Razorback family exemplifies the Arkansas spirit and provides exceptional support for their students to succeed at the university.

Sehon received the College of Engineering Employee of the Quarter award in November 2021 and the Arkansas Academy of Industrial Engineering Support Staff Member of the Year in 2014 and again in 2019.
