Students, faculty and staff can sign up for the next Belonging Design Workshops, which are being held in the ongoing efforts to explore the concept of belonging on the Fayetteville campus.

The next student workshop will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29. in Waldrip Hall at the Don Tyson Center for Agricultural Sciences. Dinner will be provided by Torchy's Tacos, and students will receive a $20 Chartwells gift card for their participation. There will be free parking at the Tyson Center and free transportation through Razorback Transit Route 21, which leaves from the Union Station at 5:30 p.m. Please RSVP for the event on Hogsync by Sept. 27.

The faculty and staff design workshop will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in Arkansas Union rooms 510-511. Breakfast will be provided. Please RSVP by Sept. 21 on this Micrsoft Office forms page.  

The belonging committee - made of members from Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, as well as students - has been engaging various groups, organizations and departments on campus in conversations to gather perspectives on belonging that will be used to inform an action plan for strengthening the feeling of belonging on campus.

The belonging committee began this exploration a little more than a year ago and has worked to define belonging and identify areas of the campus experience that are critical to creating a sense of belonging:

"Belonging is defined by each of us and connects us all as Razorbacks. From showing up to engagement to responsibility.

When belonging happens, you feel…

• Part of something that is greater than yourself. 
• Empowered to explore self and community. 
• Your voice matters to the community.

"We have held many dialogue circles and several design workshops with members of the campus community since we started exploring belonging on campus," said Lori Lander, assistant vice chancellor for campus life and co-chair of the committee. "These next design workshops will help further our understanding of how students, faculty and staff feel about belonging on campus."
