Jazz Program Takes Audience to 'April in Paris' This Thursday
The U of A Jazz Program in the Department of Music is delighted to announce "April in Paris," An Evening of Jazz Combos on Thursday, April 21. The show features performances by the U of A Intermediate Jazz Combo, Improvisational II Jazz Combo, Beginning Jazz Combo, undergraduate and graduate students of the voice area along with music faculty Lauren N. Clare, Joon Park and Susumu Watanabe.
Speaking on the event's inception, Clare is "hoping that the audience will take away an evening of escape into a beautiful spring day in the amazing city of Paris, France." The performance features music by Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, Juan Tizol, Thelonius Monk and Vernon Duke, among others.
Clare continues that "during the show we will begin as would an afternoon stroll with 'Blue Skies' and end the night with 'Caravan' as we leave in anticipation of life's next adventure." This picturesque evening is full of jazz music featuring the improvisation skills and vocal talents of the U of A jazz area students.
The concert is free and open to the public. It will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the UA Global Campus Black Box Theatre located at 2 E. Center St. in Fayetteville.
