Join Exercise Is Medicine for Our Gold Status Conference March 11

Exercise is Medicine invites students to attend their Gold Status Conference from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, March 11, on campus at the HPER Room 318.

Exercise is Medicine is a global organization that "fosters collaborative relationships and leadership on college campuses among exercise, health and other disciplines that support the Exercise is Medicine on campus vision and goals." There are three different levels of recognition that each EIM program is given. The level given is earned based upon each university's level of implementation. Currently the U of A holds a silver status.

In order to receive gold status, we need to begin by having a conference with the officers of Exercise is Medicine, an EIM community officer, Dr. Green and a representative of Pat Walker Health Center to get together and discuss the importance of implementing EIM into Pat Walker's referral method. If approved, patients at Pat Walker will be given a referral to certified health professionals to increase exercise in their day-to-day life. Davison, a representative of EIM from the University of Kentucky, will be giving a presentation to achieve this status. This conference can hold up to 33 individuals per fire capacity. This being said, we will have 27 seats open to all students to sit in and voice their opinion on this conference.

This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently enrolled U of A students. For questions about the event or for accommodations due to disability, please contact Abagail Hisler, amhisler@uark.edu, 815-261-2763.
