East Timor and Lebanon Featured for Last Global Series of the Year
The final Global Series of the semester celebrates the cultures of East Timor (or Timor Leste) and Lebanon.
Join us at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the Holcombe Hall living room as we learn more about the history, culture and stories of Timor Leste and Lebanon.
We will have food, fun and prizes as students from these two countries educate us about homelands.
"Timor-Leste is a relatively new country, and not so many people heard about it," said presenter Veronica Pereira. "But it could be a vacation spot on people's list once they learn about it," she said.
Lebanon is a Middle Eastern country in western Asia. Exchange student Christina Sarieddine will present about Lebanon.
"Lebanese people have done nothing wrong for their country. It is government corruption destroying the country," she said.
Global Series is a program that offers international students and domestic students with a study abroad experience an opportunity to share their culture, beliefs and traditions with the U of A community.
We feature and celebrate distinct cultures represented on campus. We provide a space where the campus community can learn about the different homes of our international students and the experiences of our domestic students in new countries. Join us as we learn and celebrate the diversity in our students.
This event is open to all U of A students, staff and faculty as well as Fayetteville community. We encourage attendees to invite their families and friends.
If you would like to be involved in as a presenter, you can contact Shemsa Ndahiro Iribagiza at sndahiro@uark.edu.
