Rom to Host Global Discussions During International Education Week

The Graduate School and International Education will host a series of "Global Discussions" for faculty and staff from various regions of the world. The discussions will be moderated by Curt Rom, associate dean of international education.

The information sessions are scheduled in conjunction with International Education Week, Nov. 15-19, on the U of A campus.

Rom planned the conversations as a way to bring together the many faculty or staff members who have connections around the globe. "These sessions are informal conversations designed for learning about what is happening in various parts of the world among those who lived or attended schools or worked in various regions, or who conduct research within or with colleagues in various regions," Rom said.

The goal of the global discussion is to share information and increase transparency about U of A connections worldwide, creating greater opportunities for collaboration and awareness of the U of A international network.

“We want faculty in one academic unit to be aware if faculty across campus might be working in the same international area, or if there are other ways to partner in certain regions with those familiar to the area,” Rom said. “These discussions will be a  mechanism to share this information with colleagues in different academic or research areas.”

The conversations will focus on three geographic regions during IEW: Africa, Latin America, and South/Southeast Asia.
