Accent Faculty Concert Series Features Vocal Professor Park
University of Arkansas

The Department of Music continues its Accent Faculty Performance Series with a performance by associate professor of voice, Moon-Sook Park. She will be joined by fellow music professors Dominic Na on violoncello, Christopher Scherer on marimba, Hyun Kim on harpsichord and singing with Jeffrey Murdock.

The first half of the program for the evening will be a solo cantata composed by Alessandro Scarlatti and accompanied by Kim and Na: a piece from Goethe's Faust, starting first in German as translated by Franz Schubert and then switching to Italian from Giuseppe Verdi. Then Park will sing excerpts from Andrew Beall's Song of Almah, joined by Scherer.

After a short intermission, Park will then perform a duet with tenor Murdock of pieces from Morten Lauridsen and Gabriel Fauré.

The finale will have pieces sung in Korean:  Won-Joo Lee's Ihwau (Pear Blossom Rain) and Betle (Loom Song), as well as Chang-Kwon Choi's Salzzagi Opseoye (Softly, Please Come), an aria from a Korean musical.

The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18, in Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
