Reminder: Come as You Arkansas Celebration Set For This Friday, Sept. 10

The day is nearly here. Come as You Arkansas, an all-day event celebrating the U of A’s 150th anniversary, is set to occur this Friday, Sept. 10, with about 50 interactive activities highlighting the university’s mission, vision, history and future.

Campus-wide gatherings are planned throughout campus with students, faculty and staff showcasing the university's innovative ideas, research and far-reaching impact.

Come as You Arkansas is open to all. Many events will  be held outdoors throughout the day, and participants are encouraged to come as they are — comfy and casual.

Signature events for Come as You Arkansas include a kickoff breakfast and campus welcome at 8:15 a.m. and the official birthday party of the 150th celebration at 1 p.m. 

The kickoff breakfast will be co-hosted by the Associated Student Government at the Greek Theatre and will feature special guests, donuts, coffee and juice. The sesquicentennial birthday party will take place on the Union Mall and include music, sweet treats and giveaways.

GIVEAWAY SCHEDULE 

  • KONA Ice – 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (between Old Main Lawn and the Peace Fountain)
  • Pure Joy Ice Cream – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Shollmier Plaza)
  • Pedal Pop Treats – 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (in front of Human Environmental Sciences building) 
  • Eureka Pizza – Noon to 1 p.m. (Arkansas Union Mall) 
  • Beat Texas T-shirts – student giveaway at 8:30 a.m. (Greek Theatre)
  • Beat Texas T-shirts – campus giveaway at 1:50 p.m. (Old Main Lawn)
  • Pepsi sampling tent  — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Union Mall between Mullins Library and Law School)

Throughout the day, multiple partners across campus will be offering special exhibits, tours and opportunities for engagement. Enjoy a self-guided walking tour, visit with the university's K9 team or check out a Sand Hog demonstration on Senior Walk. Attendees are encouraged to visit "The Heart of Hospitality" welcome tent, presented in partnership with the Bumpers College School of Human Environmental Sciences, located at the Union Mall. 

In addition to picking up a Come as You Arkansas program, guests can receive concierge service, including help planning your day, access to campus maps and directions and more details about the events being hosted throughout campus.
