U of A students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate Appreciate Diversity Month, observed Aug. 15 through Sept. 15, by using Libraries resources to familiarize themselves with local cultures.

Several Libraries research guides compile books, articles, newspapers, oral histories, archival materials and more to facilitate understanding of the Northwest Arkansas community.  The Diversity and Inclusion at the U of A Libraries research guide covers topics related to Black, Latinx and Indigenous peoples in connection with local demographics, events and anti-racism. The demographics section of the guide includes information at the national, state and campus levels to better appreciate the diversity composition. The section on Where to Start Your Own Research on Diversity was created to facilitate access to recent materials.

The Marshallese Resources research guide provides an introduction of the history of the Marshallese community in Northwest Arkansas and calls attention to content from the Libraries' Diversity Collection. The guide includes information about the history between the United States and Marshall Islands, as well as current information about its customs, community, education and food. A special section is dedicated to resources and information about the Marshallese community in Arkansas and, more specifically, at the U of A. Other resources in the guide include a Marshallese dictionary and a compilation of physical and digital books and other media from the Libraries' holdings related to the Marshallese.
