The U of A's Army ROTC  — The Razorback Battallion — has two satellite schools (University of Arkansas, Fort Smith and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma) and two Cross-Town schools (NorthWest Arkansas Community College and John Brown University). Satellite schools have cadre and conduct classes and training on their campuses. Cross-Town schools do not have cadre nor conduct classes on their campuses, but come to our campus for their classes and training.

On Friday, May 7, one young man and one young woman at the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith, and on Friday, May 21, three young men from John Brown University in Siloam Springs raised their right hands to swear an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic," becoming the newest second lieutenants of the United States Army.

These students not only worked very hard to obtain their academic degrees, but they had additional, difficult requirements to meet in order to become an officer in the greatest army on earth through the Reserved Officers Training Corps. Below is the list of our newly commissioned 2LTs, their earned degrees, as well as their Army career fields:

• John W. Flaugh (JBU) — B.S. in construction management, with tech management concentration; Military Science minor, branching into the Engineering Corps, Active Duty Army

• Orrin C. Freeman (JBU) — B.A. in history; Military Science minor, branching into the Ordnance Corps, Texas Army National Guard

• Marisol G. Osorio (UAFS) — B.A. in political science, branching Field Artillery, Arkansas Army National Guard

• Niko M. Tagle (UAFS) — B.S. in biology, branching into the Medical Services Corps, Arkansas Army National Guard

• Bobby Clay Wills (JBU) — B.S. in graphic design; Military Science minor, branching Field Artillery, Arkansas Army National Guard

The cadre of the U of A Army ROTC, Razorback Battalion, are extremely proud of our new second lieutenants. May they serve their country well.
