Undergraduate Research Week Schedule Now Available
This year's Undergraduate Research Week is set for April 19-23, and the U of A is celebrating with a slate of virtual events and a poster competition.
"Our goal is to provide a gateway opportunity for students to explore and engage in the presentation of academic research," said Joel Thornton, director of research and instruction services for University Libraries. "Undergraduate Research Week highlights and celebrates these emerging campus scholars in a positive, encouraging venue dedicated to increasing student confidence and preparation for presenting at national conferences."
To kick things off, participants and the public will be able to view a welcome message Monday, April 19, on the U of A Undergraduate Research Week website from John English, vice chancellor for research and innovation, and Lynda Coon, dean of the Honors College and interim dean of Libraries. Information about how to join the week's live events on Zoom will also be posted to the website.
Four feature films will be offered on demand to the campus community: Picture a Scientist, Human Nature, Decoding Watson and Bending the Arc.
From 2-3:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, Karl Anderson of the Graduate School and International Education will moderate a Graduate Student Panel discussion. Panelists include Jean Hugues Bitaa, Katherine Dzurilla, Mahsa Lotfi-Marchoobeh, Juan Marin, Diego Montano and Anthony Sargenti.
Louise Hancox, director of career innovation for the Honors College, and Matthew Myers of the Sam M. Walton College of Business will moderate Graduate Business Programs for All Majors from 2-3 p.m., Thursday, April 22.
From 3:30-5 p.m., April 22, a presentation on Paths to Professional Schools will be hosted by Lorraine Brewer, Mack Ivey, Kathleen Paul and Lauren Thomas.
Undergraduate Research Week at the U of A is a collaboration among the Division of Research and Innovation, the Honors College and the University Libraries.
