Every 73 seconds, an American is a victim of sexual assault, and starting on Wednesday, April 7, the U of A will raise awareness to this statistic by ringing the bell of Old Main.

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the U of A will ring the bell of Old Main every 73 seconds between 12-1 p.m. on Wednesdays in April, bringing greater awareness to the enormous tragedy of sexual violence. 

Sexual Assault Awareness Month events are underway on campus and will continue throughout April. Organizers encourage the campus community to unite and participate. Each week, a complete list of events will be featured in the daily Arkansas News email and on news.uark.edu. Events may also be found on the campus calendar. Please note that some of these events contain sensitive information regarding sexual and relationship violence.

Bringing a holistic approach to Sexual Assault Awareness Month, campus events will focus on three themed weeks:

• Awareness and understanding
• Healing and support
• Action and advocacy
