The School of Art ceramic seminar class, in collaboration with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, presents "Uark U-Haul," a one-day mobile art exhibition featuring the ceramic work of current graduate and post-baccalaureate students.

"Uark U-Haul" will open from 1-5 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, March 20, at Crystal Bridges. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The parking lot at Crystal Bridges will host eight U-Haul trucks featuring solo or collaborative efforts from the School of Art's graduate and post-baccalaureate students. They will offer unique interpretations of mobile art spaces; every U-Haul creates a new experience for the viewer. 

Featured artists from the school include: Eric Andre, M'shinda Abdullah-Broaddus, Maryalice Carrol, Minah Kim, Molly McDonald, Owen Moon, Benjamin Peary, Joanna Pike, Miki Skak, Warren VanRyzin, Juliette Walker and Christopher Williams.

"We are excited to partner with Crystal Bridges to showcase the incredible work of our graduate and post-baccalaureate students," said Anthony Sonnenberg, visiting assistant professor of art. "The pandemic has limited opportunities for our students to showcase their work. This collaboration creates a safe destination at a world class museum for the community to celebrate new artists and with diverse perspectives."

The U of A Graduate School and School of Art, in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, offer a robust studio art Master of Fine Arts program. Ceramics is one of six growing media areas in the program. All studio media areas provide an intensive studio environment for committed individuals planning careers as practicing artists. 

All students accepted into the program are fully supported. Students receive full assistantships, which include a full-time tuition waiver and a stipend of $15,000 annually for all three years of study. In addition, they receive an additional $4,000 fellowship per year.

The ceramics area takes pride in fostering a strong community of artists, both working within the studio and also as contributors and participants in the burgeoning Northwest Arkansas arts community. An exhibition of this caliber is fulfilling the area's mission and providing the community an inside look into the incredible work of these up and coming artists.  

All are welcome at "Uark U-Haul," Saturday, March 20, to meet the student artists and enjoy the mobile art exhibitions at their own pace. As a safety precaution each U-Haul exhibition will host one viewer in the space at a time.

In addition, as a safety precaution and to comply with Arkansas State guidelines, Crystal Bridges and the Momentary require that face coverings are worn by guests of age 10 and older. Participants will be asked to practice social distancing of at least six feet for the safety of all attendees.
