Bumpers College Ag, Food, Life Experience Series Part 6: Honors & Undergraduate Research
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences continues its "experience" series for students with the sixth session on honors and research.
The Ag, Food, Life Experience Part 6: Unraveling Myths of Honors & Undergraduate Research forum will be at 4 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 9. This is for any current students. Registration is required.
The series features current students sharing their experiences in the college to help other students get more engaged and discover available opportunities. The meetings are open to any major across the college, including the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
This sixth installment focuses on honors projects, student experiences completing undergraduate research (honors and non-honors) and how students can explore these options within their undergraduate programs. The roundtable discussion with other current students is an informal opportunity to learn about special projects and research processes, debunk myths surrounding honors requirements and explore the student experience in real time.
Common questions to be addressed include: Is the honors program hard? Who can complete undergraduate research? What is the benefit to complete undergraduate research? Why should I want to do this? What majors can participate?
The session will be moderated by Isabel Whitehead, coordinator for international and honors programs, Lucas Simmons, senior advisor and student experience coordinator, and several current Bumpers College undergraduate students.
The first session, on Oct. 20, focused on the more than 20 clubs and organizations sponsored by the college; the second, on Nov. 10, focused on internships and experiential learning; the third, on Dec. 8, focused on prospective students; the fourth, Feb. 2-3, focused on scholarship funding; and the fifth, Feb. 25, on students transferring to Bumpers College.
