Daniele Poquette Selected as September's Student Leader of the Month
Junior Daniele "Dani" Poquette has been selected as the Student Leader of the Month for September 2020. Originally from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Dani came to the University of Arkansas to study marketing. She is currently involved on campus as a Junior Leader for Sophomore Council, A-Week Mentor, and a clerical assistant for the office of New Student & Family Programs.
Dani said that she got involved in leadership positions "to become a part of a community on campus."
To Dani, one of the most important qualities a true leader should have "is to be adaptable, as it's important to be able to be there for the people reaching out to you in the way that is most beneficial for them."
Dani's advice for other student leaders focuses on maintaining balance between leadership positions, academics, and self-care.
"Don't forget to check in on yourself," she said. "Make sure you are not spreading yourself too thin."
The Student Leader of the Month award, sponsored by New Student & Family Programs, recognizes University of Arkansas undergraduate students for their excellence in leadership through campus involvement, leadership activities, or through volunteer and community service. More information about the award, and how to nominate a student for another month, can be found on New Student & Family Programs' leadership website.
