University Recreation to Offer Youth and Adult Swim Lessons

University Recreation is offering beginner swim lessons this spring and summer for youth ages 5 -12. All lessons will take place in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation pool.

These beginner-oriented classes expand students' locomotion, water adjustment, and safety skills. Participants will learn how to hold their breath underwater, float on front and back, glide, flutter kick, and begin coordinated arm and leg motion. Spring group lessons are $40 for UREC members and $55 for non-members. Summer group lessons are $50.00 for UREC members or $65.00 for non- members. Registration is open and closes a week prior to the first lesson of each session. 

Youth group swim lessons spring 2020 session dates:

Session 1: Monday and Wednesday
Dates: April 6-15
Times: 5:15-6 p.m. or 6:15-7 p.m.

Session 2: Monday and Wednesday
Dates: April 20-29
Times: 5:15-6 p.m. or 6:15-7 p.m.

Youth group swim lessons summer 2020 session dates:

Session 1: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Dates: May 11-22
Times: 11:15 a.m. to noon

Session 2: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Dates: May 25 - June 5
Times: 11:15 a.m. to noon

Session 3: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Dates: June 8-19
Times: 11:15 a.m. to noon

University Recreation also offers private swim instructions throughout the year for ages three and up. 

Adult swim lessons will also be offered this spring for ages 13 and older. This beginner class teaches the basics of swimming including breathing, floating, gliding, basic strokes, and water safety skills. Adult lessons are $40 for student, $45 for UREC members, or $65 for non-members. Registration is open and closes a week prior to the first lesson of each session.

Dates: April 7-16
Time: 5:15-6 p.m.
