Several U of A Programs Rank in Top 30 'Best Online Programs For Veterans'

Three groups of online programs at the University of Arkansas ranked in the Top 30 "Best Online Programs for Veterans" by U.S. News & World Report in January.

"Veterans and active-duty service members gain the most from distance education that is affordable, accessible and reputable," according to the U.S. News website.

Online graduate education programs ranked No. 14, online bachelor's programs ranked No. 22, and graduate engineering programs ranked No. 26. All online programs offered by the U of A are showcased on the University of Arkansas ONLINE website.

Institutions included in the "Best Online Programs for Veterans" rankings must first have ranked among the top half of schools in the U.S. News "Best Online Programs" rankings. Overall, U of A bachelor's degree programs ranked No. 29 among 348 institutions, graduate education programs ranked No. 42 among 298 institutions, and graduate engineering programs ranked No. 46 among 94 institutions in "Best Online Programs" rankings.

In its ranking for veterans, U.S. News also considered whether institutions were certified to accommodate federal benefits like the GI Bill and had enrolled at least 25 undergraduates or 10 graduate students with military backgrounds in the past year, according to its ranking methodology.

Graduate education programs offered online by the College of Education and Health Professions include:

  • Master's and doctoral degrees in adult and lifelong learning
  • Master's degree in community college leadership
  • Master's degree in educational equity
  • Master's and doctoral degrees in educational leadership
  • Master's degree in educational technology
  • Master's and doctoral degrees in human resource and workforce development education
  • Educational specialist degree in curriculum and instruction
  • Master's degree in physical education
  • Master's degree in special education

Online bachelor's degree programs provided by the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, the Sam M. Walton College of Business, and the College of Education and Health Professions include:

  • Communication
  • Interdisciplinary studies
  • Accounting
  • General business
  • Supply chain management
  • Human resource and workforce development
  • And programs for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Graduate engineering programs offered online by the College of Engineering are master's degrees in engineering, electrical engineering and engineering management.
