Armed Forces Alumni Society Hosts Veterans Day Weekend Activities

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Armed Forces Alumni Society encourages the campus community to help honor veterans during the upcoming Veterans Day weekend including at football game day events Saturday, Nov. 9. The society is also hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony and Reception, at no cost to military veteran students, faculty, staff and alumni, on Monday, Nov. 11.

On Game Day, Saturday, Nov. 9

The Arkansas Alumni Association along with the Armed Forces Alumni Society will host a Razorbacks football tailgate at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House prior to kickoff of the Arkansas-Western Kentucky game. The tailgate starts 2 ½ hours prior to kickoff and ends 30 minutes before kickoff. In addition, the Armed Forces Alumni Society will receive special recognition during the football game, when its Board of Directors will be introduced as a part of Razorback Athletics' hometown hero salute.

On Veterans' Day, Monday, Nov. 11

All military veteran students, staff, faculty and alumni are invited to attend a free Veterans Day Ceremony and Reception, Monday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m., at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House. Patriotic activities and guest speakers highlight the agenda. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. The Armed Forces Alumni Society is partnering with the Associated Student Government's Director of Veteran Affairs to host the event.
