Paid Study for People Who Smoke

Are you between the ages of 30 and 65? Do you smoke at least ten cigarettes per day? U of A researchers are conducting a study on adult daily smokers.

If you are over the age of 30 and you smoke, you may be eligible to participate in a study that examines smoking behavior in daily life. As a participant in the study, you will be asked to download an app to your IPhone or Android smart phone and answer questions for one week as you go about your life.

The researchers will also ask you to come into the lab two times, first to be oriented to the study and provide training on using the app, and a second time to discuss your experiences in the study. Please note that this is not a treatment study; the researchers will not be providing smoking cessation services as a part of this research.

Your time is important to them, and you will be compensated up to $150 for a one-week study; you will receive $20 for a two-hour session that will take place on the University of Arkansas campus, and up to $120 for answering questions on your cell phone for one week, and $10 for a followup visit to campus.

If interested, please contact the Laboratory for Emotion and Addictive Processes at 479-575-7165 and ask about the Smoking Motivation Study. You can also email leapuark@gmail.com for additional information, or visit the Smoking Motivation Study website.
