University of Arkansas student receives a resume review in the new Career Studio

The University Career Development Center is pleased to announce that the new Career Studio is open! The studio is an open-concept environment where UA students and alumni can drop in for general career-related services without an appointment. Studio hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday; it is located next to the University Career Development Center in Arkansas Union suite 607.

The Career Studio is staffed by Career Peer Mentors, highly-trained undergraduate and graduate students representing multiple academic programs on campus. These mentors provide one-on-one and group advising/coaching with some of the CDC's most popular services, including resume and cover letter reviews, interview tips, and mock interviews. They also may assist with LinkedIn profile reviews, job/internship resources, and career fair etiquette assistance.

The creation of the new Career Studio enables the CDC to expand career services for the general campus population. Until now, the CDC counseling team has offered most services on a more traditional, one-on-one appointment basis. However, over the last several years as the campus has grown and a rising number of students utilize career services, students may have had to wait up to three weeks for an appointment with a career counselor. In order to adapt and meet the needs of students, the CDC staff looked for ways to adjust and provide more accessible and timely services. Offering a drop-in option with peer mentors four days a week provides students with faster access to basic career services, while also enabling career counselors to deliver more in-depth assistance for those who need it.

Students who prefer appointments for any of the CDC's services or who are unavailable during Career Studio hours can make appointments with career counselors through Handshake or by calling the CDC at 479-575-2805.
