Latino Alumni Society to Present 2019 Excelencia Student Awards During Méritos Latinos

The Latino Alumni Society of the Arkansas Alumni Association will host its annual Méritos Latinos awards recognition and scholarship event at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, at the Pratt Place Inn. Yvette Murphy-Erby, vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion, is the keynote speaker.

The University of Arkansas Latino Alumni Society supports Latinos within the University of Arkansas community through scholarships, networking, mentoring and providing community support. Attendees will have an opportunity to donate to the LAS scholarship program during this signature event. Each year the society distributes over four scholarships.

Cecilia Grossberger-Medina, society president, and the Latino Alumni Society Board recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding individuals and organizations that are dedicated to the Latino community. This year the awards program will focus on 18 graduating students with demonstrated academic, leadership, and community service successes. Awardees were identified by University of Arkansas administrators, faculty and staff for their accomplishments.
