Discover Malaysia Today at Holcombe Global Series
Discover Malaysia during this month's Holcombe Global Series.
The presentation starts at 8 p.m. today in Holcombe Hall's living room.
The evening will feature a presentation by two of our students and one community member.
"For us, Malaysia is not only a name. It evokes and represents a certain feeling in us. Therefore, we want people to see and experience Malaysia the way we do," junior Yenyin Loo said.
Loo will share information about her country including similarities and differences in college life.
"I love Malaysia's multicultural characteristics. It's an intersection of races, religions, and cultures that brings a mix of languages, traditions, and best of all — food," freshman Camille Wagner said.
Malaysia is located in southeast Asia. It is composed of parts of the Malay Peninsula and the island of Borneo.
"Everyone should come and learn more about Malaysia because even though it is slightly more well known than a few other countries, there are still people who have zero knowledge about us. Being a multicultural country just like the United States, we think that there would be some similarities and differences that are shared between us and the U.S.," said Loo.
This event is open to all within the university community. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and engage with the presenters after the presentation. Samples of food will follow along with an opportunity to take photos.
Global Series is an ongoing program with past spring programs including Panama, Turkey, Germany, Laos and Grenada.
