New, Veteran, Future Teachers Invited to Participate in Educator Commitment Signing Week Events

Do you dream of becoming a teacher? Well, why not commit to the profession?

Educator Commitment Signing Week is coming up next week, and to kick things off, a group of educators from the University of Arkansas - including a few students who are studying to be part of the profession — will be traveling to the governor's signing event in Little Rock on Friday.

Educator Commitment Signing Week is dedicated to promoting and celebrating those who have committed to the teaching profession, said Jennifer Beasley, director of the Office of Teacher Education. New, veteran, and future teachers will have the opportunity to sign a Commitment to Education, showing their personal pledge to the students of Arkansas, the teaching profession, and the future of education in the state.

Students are invited for pizza and a chance to sign their commitment pledge during a "Slice N' Sign" event on Monday from noon to 2 p.m. in Peabody hall.

To recap, here are upcoming events associated with Educator Commitment Signing Week:

  • April 12: Governor Asa Hutchinson's press conference and signing event at the capitol.
  • April 15: Slice n' Sign Event! Pizza served between noon and 2 p.m. in Peabody Hall. Come sign the commitment pledge and enjoy a slice of pizza.
  • All week: Education classes and students are encouraged to sign the letter of commitment and upload their picture on Twitter and/or Instagram. Be sure to tag the Office of Teacher Education @TeachEd_UA to be in the drawing to win prizes given on Friday. Please tag #hogsloveteaching and/or #ARSigningWeek2019
