University Housing to Hold 'Beam Signing' Tour for Stadium Drive Residence Halls

University Housing will host a "beam signing" program and tour today to showcase the new Stadium Drive Residence Halls project.

This 708-bed hall will open in fall 2019. All university students are eligible to live in the new hall.

The event starts at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, with a short program of speakers. This will be followed by a tour of the new hall. Light refreshments will be served.

The construction site is south of Pomfret Hall at the corner of Leroy Pond and Stadium Drives. Attendees can park in the lots nearby.

Creativity and Innovation

The Stadium Drive Residence Halls project integrates several University of Arkansas priorities, including student success, innovative teaching and learning.

A key component of the new hall is providing access to unique tools and programming geared toward creativity and innovation. These benefits are meant to foster academic success among those who live in the hall.

For example, the new hall features a student-led art gallery, a recording studio, performance spaces, 3D printers, sewing machines, music practice rooms, movement and yoga studio.

In addition, University Housing partnered with the Brewer Family Entrepreneurship Hub to offer programming to help students transfer their creative ideas into design-based solutions.

Six Living Learning Communities are also offered in the hall. They include architecture and design; art; English, literature and writing; innovation and design; music; and theater.

Living Learning Communities are communities of students who live together and unite around a certain area of interest. The students receive special academic and social interaction from University Housing and academic partners.

Contracts are open now for students who wish to live in the new hall.
