Nominations Sought for Hoyt Purvis Award for Service in International Education
Nominations are being sought for the annual Hoyt Purvis Award for Service in International Education. The award recognizes members of the University of Arkansas community for their outstanding service to the field of international education and their commitment to promoting mutual understanding between people of all nations.
Individuals wishing to submit nominations should review the criteria and complete the nomination form. The nomination deadline is Friday, Oct. 19.
One award is given in each of the following categories:
- University faculty member
- University staff member
- Graduate School and International Education staff member
A committee designated by the Graduate School and International Education dean will review nominations and make the final selections. Recipients will be recognized at the Chancellor's annual reception for International Scholars that will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15. The event is part of International Education Week, which is Nov. 12-16.
The award was established to honor Purvis, an emeritus University of Arkansas professor of journalism and international relations, for his contributions to and advocacy for international education at the University of Arkansas. He was the first recipient of the award in 2016.
