UREC Outdoors Long Time Banff Film Festival Sponsor
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Banff Mountain Film Festival is celebrating its return to Fayetteville for the 10th consecutive year. UREC Outdoors has been a sponsor of the event since its inception. This is the second year that the festival will be held on the University of Arkansas campus, which gives the students and staff a better opportunity to experience the event.
"The Banff Film Festival features the best mountain and outdoor films in the world. I love it because it is inspiring to see such a wide variety of content, and it is important to be exposed to other outdoor recreation cultures around the world," said Rebecca Irvin, graduate assistant for UREC Outdoors. "This is a great opportunity as a department to gain exposure to the student body. Those who attend the festival are motivated to increase their outdoor recreation and we have the tools to help them do so."
This year's local festival will be held at the Walton Conference Hub, 145 N. Buchanan Ave., Fayetteville, (University of Arkansas campus) Sept. 12 and 13. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and visitors can meet with event sponsors, including UREC Outdoors, prior to the films starting at 6:30 p.m.
The main Banff Mountain Film Festival is held every fall in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Following the event, the best films are selected to join the world tour. It is an international film competition and presentation of short films and documentaries about the culture of mountain life, sports, environment, and adventure. The festival tour visits approximately 305 cities in 20 countries annually.
These local tours give attendees the opportunity to view footage of outdoor recreation and culture that will not be available for viewing on other platforms for extended periods of time. Banff has been exposing audiences to the mountain life culture since 1976, and UREC Outdoors is proud to be partnered with an organization so heavily dedicated to the outdoors.
