Career Fest 2018

Career Fest 2018

The University Career Development Center, in collaboration with academic colleges and representatives from Walmart, will host Career Fest from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5. This event is designed to prepare and equip UA students with the skills and knowledge necessary for career success. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from knowledgeable employers and staff. Career Fest will include Walmart Career Day and Walmart Networking Event.

Career Fest, co-sponsored by Walmart

Walmart and its vendors (Ernst & Young and Pepsico/Frito Lay) will be present to network with students and speak on various professional development topics. From noon to 2 p.m., Walmart representatives will conduct a lunch and learn event. This event will consist of a kickoff talk with Wayne Hamilton, Senior Director, Global Tax Controversy at Walmart, followed by a student internship panel discussion.

Free lunch will be provided for students.

From 2-4 p.m., Walmart representatives and vendors will host breakout sessions on the following topics, Technology & Engineering, Supply Chain & Retail, and Finance & Accounting. These sessions will be hosted in 1 hour intervals so that students may attend at least two sessions if they desire.

Career Fest is an excellent opportunity for students to talk with professionals working for some of the top Fortune 500 companies. Walmart Senior Campus Recruiter, Zoë Barton, stated, "At Walmart we are looking for the brightest and the best relent to join our teams all around the world. This is the place where individuals take pride in striving for excellence, while changing the way the world shops.  We partner with the University of Arkansas year after year to find these exact individuals, and we invite you to learn more about our global team of associates and vendors, where you can truly make an impact. This is the place where new ways of thought and unique perspectives are embraced, and where together we can change the way the world shops."

A week later on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 1-5 p.m., Walmart representatives from 10-15 departments will attend the Walmart Networking Event. This event will provide an opportunity for students to connect with Walmart representatives in a career fair setting. This event will be held at the same time and in the same location as the All Careers Fair.

Registration and business casual attire is required to attend.
