Interior Design Students Receive 21 Awards at ASID South Central Design Summit

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Ten interior design students received multiple honors during the American Society of Interior Designers South Central chapter's 2018 Design Summit, held April 5-8 in Vol Walker Hall on the University of Arkansas campus.

The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design students took home 21 awards — seven gold, 10 silver and four bronze — across seven categories during the ASID Student Design Competition. More than 170 people attended the conference, which was co-hosted by the Fay Jones School, and seven different universities were represented.

Conference participants had the opportunity to network with professionals and vendors, attend workshops and portfolio reviews, and hear from keynote speakers. Karen Nichols and Donald Strum, both principals at Michael Graves Architecture and Design, also presented a public lecture as part of the Fay Jones School's spring lecture series during the summit.

The following students received honors:

  • Sloan Aulgur won silver awards in hand rendering and computer-generated rendering, and a gold award in computer-generated rendering.
  • Corinne Burns won a silver award in computer-generated rendering.
  • Amanda Collen won silver awards in institutional and workplace, and a gold award for original product design.
  • Sydney Davis won a gold award in hospitality.
  • Janie Blair Luft won a bronze award in computer-generated rendering and a silver award in student brand and promotion.
  • Hunter McCalla won gold awards in institutional and computer-generated rendering.
  • Hunter McDaniel won a silver award in workplace and a gold award in computer-generated rendering.
  • Molly Paris won a silver award in computer-generated rendering and a gold award in computer-generated rendering.
  • Paige Park won a bronze award in hospitality and a silver award in institutional.
  • Abigail Redmon won bronze awards in computer-generated rendering and student promotion and branding, and a silver award in workplace design.
