U of A Graduate Student Selected for Fellowship to Promote Business Opportunities

Tim Lampkin, a University of Arkansas graduate student, has been named to the 2018 cohort of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economics Local Economy Fellowship. The fellowship program recognizes 25 leaders seen as representing some of the most innovative local economic and community development solutions in the United States and Canada.

Lampkin is pursuing a doctorate in adult and lifelong learning in the College of Education and Health Professions. He holds a bachelor's degree from Mississippi Valley State University and master's degrees from Delta State University and Bellevue University. He has also completed executive education at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Lampkin is the CEO of Higher Purpose Co., a nonprofit social impact agency based in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He was selected in April 2017 to serve on the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Community Development Advisory Council for three years.

"My goal is to learn best practices to further the mission of Higher Purpose Co.," Lampkin said. "We truly believe ownership of businesses, land, and culture are essential to building community wealth. This opportunity will also enhance my capacity to lead our organization. I'm truly thankful for BALLE recognizing the value of our work here in the Mississippi Delta."
