Soul Meets Bluegrass with The SteelDrivers at the Faulkner Center

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The SteelDrivers, whose music has been described as soul-meets-bluegrass, bring their Grammy-winning sound to the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3.

The Nashville Musician calls The SteelDrivers “edgy,” “superb,” and “a band in the truest sense of the word.” Since 2005, the SteelDrivers have remained “on the cutting edge of bluegrass while staying true to their deep roots [and] traditions.” The SteelDrivers are currently on tour following the success of their fifth album, The Muscle Shoals Recordings.

The band, from Nashville, Tennessee, has maintained a solid presence on the country charts over the years, garnering several Grammy nominations, culminating in the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for the The Muscle Shoals Recordings

About the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center: The newest performing arts center at the University of Arkansas — a renovation of the old Field House — is named the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center, in honor of the couple’s major gift to the project. Completed in September 2017, this world-class performance venue is 39,400 square feet, with seating for 587, and a stage that can accommodate as many as 250 performers. The center is the main performance venue for the university’s J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences Department of Music and hosts guest musical activities for the university and Northwest Arkansas community. 

About The SteelDrivers The SteelDrivers are a Nashville, Tennessee bluegrass group that embody the soul of bluegrass.  Playing straight from the heart, Gary Nichols (guitar), Richard Bailey (banjo), Tammy Rogers (fiddle), Mike Fleming (bass guitar), and Brent Truitt (mandolin) create an addictive sound that is both unique and traditional all at once.
