University Recreation Offers Personal Training to U of A Community
Personal training offers a unique opportunity to explore a new dimension of fitness by receiving individualized fitness instruction from a certified UREC personal trainer. Personal training services are for U of A students, faculty, staff and alumni with a UREC membership.
UREC personal trainers provide instruction on proper lifting techniques, as well as introduce exercises that target an individual's specific goals. Each new client takes an assessment which will produce baseline statistics in areas such as body fat percentage, circumference measurements, cardiorespiratory fitness, upper body strength, lower body strength and core strength. Following a fitness consultation, the trainer will create a workout routine specifically designed for each participant's needs.
Halley Mayo, a graduate student at the University of Arkansas, was looking for ways to change up her current fitness routine so she decided to give personal training a try. In the fall of 2017, she began working with UREC personal trainer Owen Clinton, who tailored a workout program to meet her needs.
"I have always been fairly active, but my trainer finds new ways to motivate and challenge me," said Mayo.
"I am continually impressed by the level of professionalism and expertise. UREC's personal training services have been invaluable in helping me achieve my health and wellness goals."
UREC is currently offering a special through February 28th where the purchase of six personal training sessions includes a seventh session free. Sessions are 60 minutes each and take place in the HPER Building or the UREC Fitness Center located in the AR Union.
UREC Personal Training provides opportunities to schedule sessions as an individual, with a friend, or as a group of three. Pricing for these sessions is as follows:
