2018 U of A French in Perpignan Program
Would you like to become more proficient in the French culture or language? There's no better way to enhance your abilities than by attending the 2018 U of A French in Perpignan Program.
This program offers intermediate and advanced students in French an intensive program in French language and culture.
Students will earn six credit hours at Centre Universitaire D'Etudes Francaises (CUEF) in Perpignan, while being housed with French families. This experience will allow full immersion in the language and insight into French culture while increasing confidence and competency in communicating in French.
CUEF organizes cultural activities several nights a week, such soirées-cinéma, plays, concerts and get-togethers with French students. Weekend excursions may include visits to the medieval walled city of Carcassonne, the Cathar Castles, Barcelona, the Dali Museum in Figueres, Spain, and outdoor activities in the Pyrenees mountains. These visits and the organized cultural events are a part of the program at the CUEF that aims to fully integrate students into French life during their brief stay in France.
Students will take classes in the morning at the CUEF and in the afternoon free transportation is provided for students wishing to spend the afternoon on the nearby Mediterranean beaches.
The U of A group will be accompanied by Kathy Comfort and Hope Christiansen, both associate professors of French in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences' Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
Comfort and Christiansen will lead the 3-day visit in Toulouse at the beginning of the program and will be on site for the first week of the program and provide academic advising regarding the transfer credit awards.
The deadline to apply for the 2018 U of A French in Perpignan Program is Feb. 1. For more information, contact Comfort at kcomfort@uark.edu.
