Entrepreneur and Producer Jon Platt to Give Public Lecture

Jon Platt, with J2 Music, will give a guest lecture at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Platt will discuss his experience in the music and film industries as well as give advice as a mutli-faceted entrepreneur working in the 21-century music industry. The lecture will appeal to students interested in the music industry including those studying in the Walton College of Business, the School of Journalism, and production and creative arts students in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

In addition to music production, Platt has worked as a music supervisor on numerous projects including feature films, documentaries, and television series. He has produced a number of successful documentaries and is currently working with several international musicians in the recording business. To his credits, Platt has overseen production for many longform concert DVD and specials including The Ramones "RAW," Warp Tour 2003 and 2007, Chicago in Chicago Live, Grahan Parker, The World Baseball Classic Special Edition DVD for 2006 and 2009, as well as the Galerians Rion Anime.

Platt has also been involved with the film development and acquisitions for The Ramen Girl (Britney Murphy), Catacombs (Shannon Sossamon and Pink), REPO The Generic Opera (Alexa Vega and Sarah Brightman), The Hills (Paris Hilton). Platt has handled acquisitions of over 30 features, TV shows, and long form concerts.

As a producer, Jonathan has been involved with MLB.com Presents Japan Confidential for BEE TV/NTT Domo, award-winning feature documentary We Are X, Image Revolution, She Makes Comics, and Cosplay Universe.
