United We Win Tallying Donations, Drawing for a Prize Winner Today
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – U of A faculty and staff are encouraged to make their contribution to the United We Win campaign today to be eligible for this week’s prize drawing.
Christopher Shields, clinical assistant professor of sociology won the first week’s drawing, taking home a Play Station Gold stereo headset.
Donna Owen, clinical instructor of curriculum and instruction won a free UREC membership and Chartwells gift basket. Today’s drawing will be for another UREC membership and a set of walkie talkies.
Everyone who participates in the United We Win drive before the final day, Friday, Oct. 27, will be eligible to win a Dell laptop.
The U of A United Way campaign has raised $65,110 so far – 41 percent of the goal of $160,000.
All the money raised will go to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas to support 38 community programs run by 31 local agencies that help the estimated 27,000 children living in poverty in Northwest Arkansas.
These programs include:
- Boys and Girls Clubs in Washington and Benton Counties
- The Sunshine School and Development Center
- The Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter
- The U of A School of Social Work
- The Lincoln, Prairie Grove and Bentonville School systems
- The Peace at Home Family Shelter
- EOA Head Start
- Ozark Literacy Council
