University of Arkansas Chancellor Joe Steinmetz will discuss the university’s strategic plan for academics and the major new initiatives related to the plan in a ‘State of the University’ address at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Faulkner Performing Arts Center. The address is open to the public.

The address will be the highlight of a series of strategic updates planned for One University Week, Sept. 11-15. In addition to the chancellor’s address, major announcements during One University Week include the launch of the university’s strategic plan on Tuesday, Sept. 12, as well as updates from the provost and on the progress of the development of a unifying messaging theme for university communications.

The strategic plan was built through a campus-wide, collaborative process set in motion by Chancellor Steinmetz in early 2016. The process included the establishment of a set of guiding priorities and measurable goals that, together, form the roadmap for the University of Arkansas’ future. With the mission of the U of A as a public land-grant institution of teaching and learning, research and discovery, and with outreach and engagement at its core, the strategic planning process included input from all departments, many interdisciplinary programs and centers, students, faculty and staff.
