Departments Have Revised Parking Options for Evening Events this Fall

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Guests attending U of A evening events during the week are required to pay for parking in many lots and metered spaces 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. However, departments that are holding events have several ways to provide parking for their guests, and the cost for two of those options has been reduced.

• When departments contact Transit and Parking at least two weeks before an event they can order evening parking permits for $1 per space. These permits are valid in evening reserved lots from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. for the specified event only. After 8 p.m., the lots do not require a permit. These permits do not authorize parking in Resident Reserved, 24-hour or signed reserved spaces.  Evening reserved lots are marked by white lot numbers in black circles on the campus parking map.
• Departments can reserve a designated number of spaces in a parking lot and pay $1 per space plus $12 an hour per lot attendant. There is an additional charge if barricades are required. No permits will be provided, but the attendant can let anyone park who says they are attending the event, the department can provide a list of attendees for the lot attendant, or the department can send a notice to be placed on the dash of attendees’ vehicles to notify the lot attendant. This option requires two weeks advanced notice to Transit and Parking.

There are four additional options for departments as well:

• Purchase visitor parking permits for their guests at $7.25 per vehicle. These permits may be mailed to the guest prior to their arrival to campus or upon their arrival. The guest will have to return to the lot to place the permit inside their vehicle if the permit was not mailed to them. Visitor permits are valid between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. weekdays in Faculty/Staff, Student and Remote parking lots.  
• Have the guest purchase a daily visitor permit for $7.25. This can be done on the internet at https://myparkingaccount.uark.edu. The guest will need to create a guest account if this is the first time they have used this website.  The guest may also purchase a temporary parking permit in person at the Transit and Parking Department at 155 S. Razorback Road between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Park guests in parking lots along Razorback Road that do not require a permit after 5 p.m., except prior to and during athletic events, and have them walk, ride a Razorback Transit bus, or the sponsor may fund a shuttle to transport the guests. These lots are designated by black numbers in a white circle on the campus parking map. Departments needing to provide shuttle service should contact A.J. Bellard with Razorback Charters at 575-7913. 
• Have the guest or department pay the hourly parking meter fee until 8 p.m., which is $1.70 per hour. The guest can pay with coins at the single space meters or a credit card using the Parkmobile app on their phone or by calling Parkmobile at their toll free number 877-727-5973 (877 PARK 973). The multiple space meters in the garages accepts coins, cash, and credit cards. The Parkmobile app and toll free number may also be used to pay the multiple space meters. Departments can pay with a departmental Parkmobile account or a meter code requested from Transit and Parking. The Parkmobile app is available on the Google Play iTunes and the Windows Store and is free.
