Summer Course Offered on "The Holy Land in Jewish Thought"

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jacob Adler, professor of philosophy will offer a course on “The Holy Land in Jewish Thought” during the second University of Arkansas summer session, from July 3 to Aug. 4.

The class, HUMN 425V, section 12, will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.  

The course will cover Jewish thought about the Holy Land and the Jewish state, from the Bible to the present. Questions that will be considered include: What’s so holy about the Holy Land? Should there be a Jewish state, and should it be there? What makes a Jewish state Jewish? How was a dead, ancient language revived to be the everyday speech of a new country?
