The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences Fine Arts Faculty Showcase continues with a presentation by Department of Art faculty member, David Andree, who will present "Speculations in time: contemporary approaches to working from the landscape" at 4 p.m. Friday, March 31. 

The event is free and open to the public and will take place in 319 Old Main. The discussion will feature Andree, visiting assistant professor of art, reflecting upon his current "Speculations in time" project.

Andree's work seeks to continue the conversation of artwork within the tradition of landscape, through the use of painting, drawing, sculpture, video and sound.

Expanding the plein air tradition, Andree's work is created in the field responding to the changing qualities of the landscape. Interested in examining the source of the action that produces marking, his approaches vary from the artist making responsive marks to enabling elements in the landscape itself to create drawn marks, color transitions, sound compositions, and sculptural forms.

Andree earned his M.F.A. in visual studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a B.F.A. in painting at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. His work has been published in Scotland, Belgium, France and the United States. An accomplished artist and teacher, Andree's work has been purchased and commissioned by private and corporate entities.
