U of A Fall Commencement Set for Dec. 17 in Bud Walton Arena

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – About 1,200 University of Arkansas undergraduate and graduate students are expected to “walk” during the 2016 Fall Commencement ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in Bud Walton Arena.

Free parking is available in several lots close to the arena, including lots 46, 47N, 47S, 56 and 74A, B, C and E, which are located close to Bud Walton Arena. Parking is also available in any unrestricted parking lots on campus on Saturday.

Doors to the arena will open at 7:30 a.m. and all guests must enter through the south entrance. Tickets are not required.

People with disabilities can be dropped off at the south entrance and disabled parking is available in lot 60, directly west of the arena.

Rain is in the forecast for Saturday morning and compact umbrellas will be allowed inside the arena. However bags will be checked for security purposes. Prohibited items that can’t be brought into Bud Walton Arena include balloons, wrapped packages, and strollers.

There will be a pre-ceremony concert by the Boston Mountain Brassworks, the U of A faculty brass quintet, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

All guests should be seated by 8:45 a.m.

Seating for people with disabilities is available on the concourse level, which can be reached by elevator. Two additional guests may accompany people using the disabled seating.  

Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz will deliver the commencement address.

The event will be streamed live for those who can’t attend the ceremony.
