FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The U of A United Way campaign, Paint Their Future Bright – Child by Child, has raised $119,594.99 in donations from staff and faculty during the month of October. With one day left in the active fundraiser the campaign is at 70 percent of its goal of $170,000.

“We set goals high here at the University of Arkansas,” said Kim Needy, campaign co-chair. “We knew it would be hard to reach – but difficult goals are the ones that are worth achieving. I think we’ve been able to raise this much because we set the goal high.”

“We really did have a remarkably strong response all through the campaign, especially in this past week,” said campaign coordinator Jacque Linebarger. “We have had many more staff and faculty members participate in the campaign this year, as well – 32 percent so far, compared to our final total of 30 percent last year.  We are still expecting some last minute donations today.”

The money raised will go to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas to support local agencies and programs that help the more than 27,000 children who live in poverty in our community.

“We want to thank everyone who participated in this campaign,” said campaign co-chair Stacy Leeds. “I think we can all be proud of the work we’ve done to support the children and our community.”
