Get the Political Inside Scoop at Free Screening of NextStepRun!
This election year, get the inside scoop on what it's like for four regular women to run for state legislative office with a free screening of NextStepRun! at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in Arkansas Union room 512-513.
This bipartisan, 30-minute documentary tells the stories of four women running for office during the 2014 midterm elections.
"The candidates featured – including Northwest Arkansas' own Leah Williams – are diverse with respect to geography, party affiliation, family status and ethnicity," said event organizer Janine A. Parry, director of the Arkansas Poll and professor in the Department of Political Science. "But they have one thing in common: a commitment to bringing integrity to the legislative process through consensus, collaboration and inclusion."
Parry said filmmaker Pam Maus will lead a Q&A following the film. Additionally, after the film free refreshments will include popcorn, cupcakes, brownies and lemonade.
The event is free and open to the public, and is presented by Gender Studies and the Department of Political Science within the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.
