Razorback Marching Band Feature Twirler Wins National Titles

FAYETTEVILLE--Savannah Miller, a sophomore journalism major inside the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, was named the National Collegiate Twirling Champion and the Grand National Women's Solo and Dance Champion while competing at the United States Twirling Association National Championships in Mobile, Alabama.
"I am so honored to have become the 2016 Grand National Women's Solo and Dance Twirl Champion, along with the 2016 USTA National Collegiate Twirling Champion while representing the University of Arkansas" said Miller. "I am even more excited and humbled to be selected to Team USA and to be traveling to Helsingborg, Sweden in 3 weeks to compete in the upcoming World Twirling Championships!"
Miller is also the feature twirler for the Razorback Marching Band.
"The Razorback Band has a long history of excellence in twirling" said Benjamin Lorenzo, associate director of bands. "We are so proud of Savannah for representing the university and state on a national and international level."
About the University of Arkansas Bands: The University of Arkansas Bands Program, part of the Department of Music in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, began in 1874 and is one of the oldest band programs in the country. The program has six ensembles including the Razorback Marching Band, Hogwild Band, and four concert bands with over 400 student members representing every college at the university.
