Science Café to Present 'Endangered Species: Arkansas and Beyond'

Biological species have gone extinct naturally over millions of years; however, extinction rates are now thousands of times higher than the rate prior to human existence. Fayetteville's town and gown community will discuss the topic at the University of Arkansas Science Café set for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Powerhouse restaurant in Fayetteville.

Panel members will be Joseph Neal, a retired wildlife biologist with the U.S. Forest Service and visiting scholar in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Arkansas; Kimberly Smith, U of A Distinguished Professor of biological sciences; and John Willson, U of A assistant professor of biological sciences.

Science Café is sponsored by the STEM Center for Math and Science Education, the U of A chapter of Sigma Xi research society and the Arkansas Biosciences Institute. The event is free and open to the public. Food is available for purchase at the restaurant.
