sUgAR Gallery Presents: A Performance by Entity in Association With the Inverse Performance Art Festival
The University of Arkansas Student Gallery, sUgAR, is pleased to announce in association with the Inverse Performance Art Festival, a performance by Entity. The gallery, located at 1 East Center on the downtown Fayetteville square, will open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, with the performance beginning at 10 a.m.
Entity is an experimental dance group consisting of April Robertson, Shannon Terry, Avery Martin, and Missy Conry. Entity was formed by Robertson, a member of Portico Dance Company in Tulsa, who then transferred to Fayetteville. Entity has performed at Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville. Entity also has hosted an event at Fayetteville Underground called "The Mesh," which showcased their dance performances and several local artist's short films.
"True to our name, when we come together, we become a unit; an entity. Each individual dancer contributes to her own unique energy and natural movement to form a living piece of art, full of raw emotion that is both human and universal."
Inverse, organized and curated by Cynthia Post Hunt of Fayetteville and Emma Saperstein of Dallas, seeks to elevate the medium of performance in the Northwest Arkansas region. Including over 25 artists recognized on local, national, and international platforms, this festival will host a variety of performances with diversity of content and duration. Alternately, it will highlight the already existing and thriving art community of Northwest Arkansas. Inverse is educational and collaborative. It is free for all attendees. More information and a full schedule of events can be found at: www.inverseperformanceartfestival.org
