FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The U of A Talent Search Programs and U of A Office of Admissions are hosting five Campus Days events, starting this week. Approximately 500 high school, junior high, and middle school students and target school officials will attend from Fort Smith, Rogers, Springdale, and Van Buren school districts.

Campus Day is an opportunity for the students and faculty members to learn about the admissions process and admissions requirements at the U of A, available scholarships, college majors and study abroad, as well as the resources available through the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education. The students will also tour the campus and residence halls, eat lunch at a dining hall and visit several academic departments.

The Campus Days schedule is:

  • Thursday, March 31, for students from Van Buren High School and Freshman Academy
  • Tuesday, April 5, for 9th and 11th graders from Rogers Heritage High School
  • Thursday, April 7, for students from Kimmons Junior High School in Fort Smith
  • Tuesday, April 12, for students from Springdale High School
  • Thursday, April 28 for students from Rogers High School

Students will arrive on campus at about 9 a.m. and leave at 1:15 p.m.

Talent Search is a program within the Office of Diversity Affairs and Community at the University of Arkansas. It is one of eight “TRIO” programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. Talent Search provides college preparatory services to low-income and first-generation-to-college students who have the potential to enroll and succeed in higher education.

The University of Arkansas has three Talent Search grants which serve 42 target schools. The most recent report shows that 85.3 percent of U of A Talent Search students entered college in the fall semester following their high school graduation.
