Service Learning Initiative to Offer Student Ambassador Opportunities

The University of Arkansas Service Learning Initiative is excited to announce a new opportunity for undergraduate students. Starting February 2016, the Service Learning Initiative will have openings for two ambassadors, representing all undergraduate colleges. Ambassadors will work throughout the semester to promote service learning activities happening across the Northwest Arkansas area and the world.

The Service Learning Initiative is looking for ambassadors who are passionate about promoting service learning. Ambassadors must have completed at least one domestic or international service learning course, have a G.P.A. of 2.25 or above, and pass a co-curricular check. Ambassadors will work with faculty and students approximately 10 hours per week from February to May, with the possibility to extend the position through the summer.

Potential ambassadors must understand how to use their skills to help create long-term, sustained improvements with the broader community through empowerment and teaching. They must be familiar with service learning pedagogy, definition, criteria, and course offerings. Ambassadors should be comfortable with public speaking and have the ability to work diligently and independently on tasks.

The ambassador job description can be found on the Service Learning website. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2016.
