BlueInGreen Wins Grand Prize at Green Summit

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – BlueInGreen LLC, a water-quality management firm affiliated with the University of Arkansas, won the grand prize on Nov. 10 at the 2015 Green Summit in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Global Cleantech Cluster Association chose BlueInGreen out of 10,000 eligible companies as the global cleantech leader by the KeyStone Compact business assessment and a high-level investor jury led by the University of Michigan’s Peter Adriaens, an expert in the field of clean technology development.

BlueInGreen, founded in 2004 by University of Arkansas professors Scott Osborn and Marty Matlock, provides the world’s most efficient method of delivering dissolved oxygen, carbon dioxide and ozone into water. BlueInGreen, a portfolio company of VIC Technology Venture Development, is headquartered in the Arkansas Research and Technology Park.

BlueInGreen was initially nominated by the Arkansas Cleantech Cluster Association and was selected as a Top 30 finalist for the Global Cleantech Cluster Later Stage Awards in October.

“Of the thousands of companies considered, hundreds of technologies nominated and dozens of finalists evaluated, it is a great honor to be named the GCCA Grand Prize Winner by Dr. Adriaens and his expert team of judges,” BlueInGreen President John Kucharik said. “This is more than just an award for BlueInGreen. It’s validation and a vote of confidence in our technology innovation and the solutions we bring to the water cycle on a global basis.”

Osborn holds appointments in the Division of Agriculture and the College of Engineering. Matlock, executive director of the Office for Sustainability at the U of A, is a professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering.
