Students to Present Exercise Science Research Talks
Five University of Arkansas students in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation will present talks on their research from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in Room 311 of the HPER Building.
The presentations are part of the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation Research Seminar Series. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The students and their topics:
- David Lee, M.S., "Aging and obesity: Mitochondria at the Heart of the Problem"
- Lisa Jansen, M.Sc., "Effects of Plasma Osmolality on Glucose Regulation in Healthy Males - A Pilot Study"
- Megan Rosa, B.S., CEP, "Autophagy Regulation After Diet and Exercise in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease"
- Michelle Tedrowe, "Effect of Diet-Induced Obesity on Matrix Metalloproteinase Gene Expression at the Onset of Skeletal Muscle Regeneration"
- Lauren Wethington, "The Ergogenic Effects of Acute Citrulline-Malate Supplementation on Weightlifting Performance in Trained Females"
Each of these students are semifinalists for awards from the Central States Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine. These talks will determine the winners in each category: undergraduate, master's and doctoral.
