Broyles to Kick Off Hog Call Challenge to Benefit Alzheimer's Care

Frank Broyles, former Arkansas Razorback football coach and athletic director, will unveil the Hog Call Challenge, a new nationwide fundraising endeavor, at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 1, at the Chi Omega Greek Theatre on the University of Arkansas campus.

Funds raised from the challenge will be shared among the Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation, the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing at the U of A and the Mayo Clinic. The Broyles Foundation provides support, guidance, advice, counseling and other resources to help caregivers understand Alzheimer's disease. It has printed more than 1 million copies of Coach Broyles' Playbook for Alzheimer's Caregivers.

According to the Broyles Foundation, the challenge is similar to the ALS ice bucket challenge. Participants in the Hog Call Challenge will create videos of themselves doing the Hog Call to share online while challenging their friends and family members to donate in support of Alzheimer's caregivers by going to HogCallChallenge.org.

"We are so excited to unveil the Hog Call Challenge," Broyles said in a statement from the Broyles Foundation. "We are certain this campaign will not only raise vital funds and awareness for Alzheimer's caregivers, but will bring joy and laughter to all participants. Alzheimer's disease affects people in every city and every state. While I fully expect an outpouring of support from the Razorback Nation, I encourage everyone, regardless of team affiliation, to join us in supporting the caregivers who provide love and support for those affected by Alzheimer's disease."
